Fenugreek is excellent for pacifying Kapha, and in smaller quantities for Vata, though it increases Pitta. It is a warming spice, with bitter, pungent and sweet tastes. In Ayurveda it is used to enhance digestion, prevent stomach disorders. It helps purify the blood, cleanse the lymphatic system, and detoxify the body.
Fenugreek is sautéd whole or ground in ghee before adding to dishes. Fenugreek combines well with spices such as cumin, coriander, turmeric, fennel and ginger.
