Cardamom is a popular spice for sweet foods and it promotes the digestion of milk.
The seeds and pods can be chewed after meals as a digestive aid, a mouth cleanser and a breathe freshener.
According to Ayurveda, cardamom is tridoshic (balances all three doshas), though those high in Pitta should eat smaller amounts. Considered an excellent digestive, it is especially beneficial in reducing bloating and intestinal gas.
Excellent for balancing Kapha, particularly in the stomach and lungs. It is said to counteract the toxic effects of coffee.
Cardamom seeds and pods can be ground to create highly aromatic and fresh tasting powder.
